I think. I suppose we all think though. I ponder a lot as well. Sometimes about morality in general and other times about issues of the day. I offer up my thoughts and opinions to friend and we think about them, talk about them, learn about them. So here are just a few of the things we've come up with. Things to think about. Things to make you wonder and lie awake at night wishing you could sleep.
Monopoly
I had the question posed by a good friend, "How likely is it that you'll land on the same place two times around the board in a Monopoly game?" When you play, it seems like you keep landing on the same place over and over again. Statistically, it's not very probably you're going to land on the EXACT same place time and time again, but how likely is it that you'll land on one of the spaces you landed on last time around the board? I wrote a simple program to figure it out. After 1,000,000 times around the board, you've got an average of a 58% chance of landing on one of the same spaces as the last time.
MÙrmorthor
What makes murder immoral? Why is it that every society in history has strive to block the killing of its own members. Could one create a universe where murder was moral? Could one create a universe where the willful killing of another was not unethical? Enter the universe of MÙrmorthor.
A Moral Justification for Software Piracy
It seems that everyone in the world who uses a computer pirates software. Why is it, if we live in a generally moral society, that people don't feel enough guilt to keep them for stealing software? Perhaps it's because not all software piracy is immoral. Perhaps deep down inside, people feel that there is a moral justification for software piracy.
Equestrian Homochronicity
Ever notice that mathematical induction is a lot like proof by frantic hand waving? Sure I proved it's true for one case. Then I proved that it's true for one greater than that case. Somehow this implies that it's true for all causes? Of course! So here's the inductive proof that all horses are the same color.
