Back to Work (12/29/2002)
Now I have to go back to my hotel space at the SF office.
The next week will be pretty quick for me. I have the 1st of
for new years and I'm getting my wisdom teeth yanked on the 2nd.
So I'll be mostly out of it on the third. It's more of just
two days of work. Plus, I'll probably be working from home
on Tuesday. So, that's only one day. My new hard drive
is theoretically waiting for me there, so it'll be good
to go get it!
I finally got around to "fixing" my web site under the covers.
I am no longer using the evils of tables to format the entire
site. I am now properly using the <div> tags to do it.
I'm not quite sure I've done it correctly, but it seems to
look okay, so I'm going to go with it. I haven't updated
Chaos Corporation, yet though. I also need to re-brand that site to
something more like, Chaos Corporation. So many plans.
I also updated my Palm Software Page
with the updates to a few programs I have on it. I'm not sure
if anyone really watched that page, but they'll be happy if
they do.
Home for the Holidays (12/23/2002)
The holidays are always good fun. I'm off work the week of
Christmas and only partially working the next week. Plus I'm
getting my wisdom teeth pulled out at the end of next week as
well. So it'll be a while before there is more work for me.
The holidays are a hectic dash to see all of my friends from
all different walks of my life. My first night back I had
a gathering with Debbie, Joy, Cynthia, et. al. It was great
to see everyone! I haven't seen a lot of them in a long
while.
The on Saturday night it was the... umm... I don't really have
a name for that crew. Kelly, Karen, et. al. Kelly is back
from Argentina with three medals. Karen's pumped out a thesis
for a diploma. All good stuff going on for the girls.
A quick drive up to Sacramento on Sunday and it was time to
rally da gang. Got everyone together (including Kilian!)
on Sunday. Got a few more rallied on Monday too. Hopefully
I can keep this whole thing rolling for the remaining days in
town. Party on Wayne.
My Last Week in Denver (12/15/2002)
Five more days in Denver and then I'm heading to my home in the
bay area. But I'm only there for two days before making my way
home to Sacramento for the holiday week. I'm not sure how long
I'll be chilling in Sacramento. With the partial closure of
the San Francisco office, I can work from wherever I have a phone
and a high speed Internet connection.
I had a great day snowboarding at Winter Park yesterday. I was one
of the best days snow experience I've had a in long time. I clearly
need to spend more time in the good fun snow! I am soar all over.
I don't even know how to stretch some of the leg muscles that are
aching on me. Follow that off with
a little party with my coworkers today where they brought all the
kids over, and I had a great weekend. I love the little five-year-olds.
There isn't much more adorable than that.
I'm also trying to do some technical work on my website. I was just
noticing on the w3c technical document on CSS and learned that
using tables to visual format a page is bad juju. Looks like I'm
going to have to figure out this whole div thing.
Another Nail in the Coffin (12/07/2002)
The company is nearly closing its San Francisco office. There aren't official
notices sent out about it, but that's the way things go these days. SF
is switch to the "hotel model" where we have bunch of desks that employees
can share. So, if there's a free desk, I'll be at the office. If we
ever hit capacity, I'll work from home. I like to think of it as the
"work from Starbucks" model.
I can't say that it's a good sign for my future at the company. Considering
the main reason I work there is for the community of smart intelligent people,
if there's no community left locally, there isn't much for me. We'll see
how it works out. I've been thinking my time is nearing its end for a
long while now.
